The Toronto Maples announced that Goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has signed a two-year contract extension.
Gustavsson will earn an average of $1.35 million per season.
"We are extremely pleased to have signed Jonas to a new two year deal" president and general manager Brian Burke said. "He made very good progress as the season went along and we are really looking forward to seeing him reach his full potential with us."
Gustavsson played 42 games this season with the Maple Leafs, posting a 16-15-9 record, 2.87 goals-against average and .902 save percentage.
Leafs fans were pretty pleased with Gustavsson's rookie season as he showed that he may have what it takes to be a starting goaltender in the NHL for years to come.
The Maple Leafs goalie had a tough year as he experienced heart problems at the beginning of training camp that sidelined him twice throughout the season.
